For a couple years we’ve had a beautiful front porch that led to nowhere.
We couldn’t install the front door because the kitchen sink,
which we were still using,
was in the way (directly below the old windows).
But not anymore!
We tore that all out, if you don’t remember check this out!
In order to put in our beautiful new front door, Steve had to remove the last original windows!
We’ve been working so hard and have had so many “lasts” (last wall to be removed, last window to be removed, last original room gutted…) in the past few months but none as monumental as this one! It was a significant accomplishment in this nearly 5 year project.
He removed the rest of the exterior siding…
and the remainder of the wall.
It was surreal the first time I walked through the opening to the front porch!
The side lites and frame went in first…
and then came beautiful Alexandria, of the Signature Collection, from DSA Doors made locally here in North Carolina. She’s solid mahogany and stained in deep chestnut.
This house is ever so slowly turning into our home!
Up next: the exterior gets completed!
Live simply but to it with sass!
Your front door is beautiful! It was so fun to be able to come down this past fall and see all the changes you’ve made so far. Cannot wait to come back and see it completed. Your home will be beautiful!!
Thank you! Yes it was fun sharing with you what has been accomplished and this will be the year the original house will be completed so hope you’ll visit again soon!
